AI 3D model generator, from text or an image

Describe an object or drop in an image, and turn it into a textured 3D model, ready to use in Spline or anywhere.

How it works

How to turn text or an image into a 3D model

Text to 3D and image to 3D in three steps, from a prompt to a model you can use.

  1. 01

Describe it, or drop in an image

Type a prompt for one object, or add a front-facing image of it: PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 15 MB. Or both.

  2. 02

Turn it into a 3D model

Pick from state-of-the-art AI models like Hunyuan3D, Trellis 2 and Meshy, and Spline builds a textured 3D model with PBR maps.

  3. 03

    Use it anywhere

Download the GLB, or open it in Spline to light, animate and publish it to the web, iOS and Android.

Features

Everything you need to generate 3D models

From the first prompt to the finished file: pick the AI model, inspect the mesh and its maps, and keep every result in your library.

  • Text to 3D

Type a sentence and four looks land in seconds. Turn the one you like into a model.

  • Image to 3D

A photo, a sketch or a screenshot: drop it in and it comes back with volume.

  • Choose the model

Pick between state-of-the-art 3D generation models, and run the same image through more than one to compare.

  • PBR materials

Base color, metallic-roughness and normal maps on the mesh, so metal reads as metal in your scene.

  • Rendering modes

Shaded, clay, wireframe, and every map on its own, to inspect the surface in full.

  • Environment control

Four lighting rigs, dials for strength, ambient, rotation and exposure, and a turntable.

  • Model stats

Triangles, vertices, file size and the maps it came with, right in the viewport.

  • Asset library

Every image and model you’ve generated, one search away, filtered by type.

  • A file or a scene

Download the GLB, or open it in Spline to light, animate and publish it.

Use cases

What to make with a generated model

Every model comes back textured, with PBR maps, as a GLB you can take anywhere or keep working on in Spline.

  • Game assets

Props, characters and creatures as textured GLB files, ready to import into Blender, Unity or Unreal Engine.

    GLTF and GLB
  • Product visualization

Turn a product photo into a textured 3D model, and show it from every side on your site or store.

    Spline for Web
  • 3D printing

Open a generated model in Spline and export it as STL, ready for your slicer.

    Exporting as STL
  • Concept blockouts

Turn a sketch or a prompt into a quick 3D draft to test an idea, before modeling it in detail.

Publish

One scene. Web, Apple and Android.

Ship the same file to a website, an iPhone app or an Android app. Each platform gets its own native renderer, so scenes keep their interactivity and performance.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I turn an image into a 3D model?

Open Generate, add a reference image and pick a model. A front-facing shot of a single object works best, as a PNG, JPG or WebP of up to 15 MB. You get a set of image previews: pick the one you like and Spline builds a textured 3D model from it.

How do I generate a 3D model from text?

Describe the object in the prompt box and pick a model. Spline shows four image previews of your prompt, and turns the one you choose into a textured 3D model. You can also add a reference image to a prompt, to steer both.

How do I write a good prompt for text to 3D?

Describe one object rather than a whole scene, and say what it is made of and the style you want. Close-ups give more detail, and organic shapes come out better than very sharp edges.

Can I use it for free?

AI 3D Generation is available on every paid workspace plan, Hobby, Pro and Max, each of which includes a monthly allowance of AI credits. Learn more about our pricing plans.

What does one generation cost?

A run is billed in AI credits in two steps: the image previews a prompt returns, and the 3D model built from the one you pick. The estimated cost is shown before you send. Meshing an image you already generated only charges for the model step.

Which AI models generate my 3D model?

You choose. Hunyuan3D (the default) balances detail and speed, Hunyuan 3.1 Pro gives the sharpest, most detailed geometry, Trellis 2 handles shapes that pass through each other, and Meshy gives a clean result with little cleanup. You can run the same image through more than one, and switching back to a model you already generated costs nothing.

What file format do I get?

Generate downloads your model as a GLB. You can also open it in Spline, where the editor exports scenes as GLTF or GLB, and as USDZ or STL on Pro and Max.

Can I use generated models in Blender, Unity or Unreal Engine?

Yes. GLB is the binary form of glTF, an open 3D format that Blender, Unity and Unreal Engine can import.

Can I generate 3D models inside the Spline editor?

Yes. Press the AI button on the toolbar and choose AI Generate, and the finished model drops straight into your open scene. An agent connected over Spline MCP can generate models into the scene too.

Do I need special hardware or software?

No. Generation runs in the cloud, and Spline runs in your browser.

Is Spline AI using my existing files data?

No, Spline AI does not use any of our users’ files or data.

How will Spline AI 3D Generation use my data?

We take privacy very seriously. We only collect data related to your prompts if you decide to share it as feedback. All user data and Spline AI data is handled by Spline, on our own servers.

I have more questions. Who can I talk to?
